Buyer trust & safety

Is pasal.biz the seller, or just the listing site?

pasal.biz is the index, not the seller. Every product you see belongs to a real Nepali pasal — they own the price, the stock, the payment, the delivery, and the return policy. We help you find them and link to where you actually buy. Money never flows through pasal.biz.

What if I pay a shop and they don't deliver?

That dispute is between you and the shop, since the payment went to them directly. pasal.biz isn't a payment processor, so we can't refund you — but we do want to know. Email [email protected] with the shop name and what happened. Repeated complaints get a shop delisted.

How are shops verified?

Shops that sign up directly go through phone verification and a basic profile check. Auto-listed shops (ones we found by crawling public sites) are clearly labelled as such until the owner claims and verifies them. We don't issue legal certifications — verify a shop the way you would any local business: check the address, reviews, and ask before paying.

Are prices on pasal.biz the same as in the shop?

For shops that maintain their own listing, yes — they set the price and update it from their dashboard. For auto-ingested shops, the price comes from their own website and is as fresh as our last crawl. The shop is the source of truth — confirm before paying.

Can I return something I bought through pasal.biz?

Returns are handled entirely by the shop that sold the item, under their own return policy. pasal.biz doesn't hold inventory and doesn't process refunds. Ask the shop about returns before you buy if it matters to you.

How do I know a listing is current?

Shop-managed listings update in real time. Auto-ingested listings show the date of the last successful crawl on the product page. If a product is gone or the price has changed when you arrive at the shop, that's the shop's record — ours just mirrors theirs. Tap "Report" if a listing looks stale.

How do I report a problem with a shop?

Use the "Report" option inside the pasal's profile in the app, or email [email protected] with the pasal name and what happened. We take this seriously.

For shop owners

How do I become a pasal?

Install the app, sign in, and choose "I'm a pasal owner" during onboarding. Add a few products with photos and prices. You're listed and discoverable to nearby customers within minutes. More for pasals.

Can I run an online-only pasal?

Yes — that's an ePasal. You don't need a physical shop. Set up like any other pasal and skip the address fields you don't need.

What is an ePasal?

An ePasal is a pasal.biz storefront with no physical shop. The owner sells entirely online — same dashboard, same tools as a physical pasal. Useful if you sell from home, run a side business, or want to test products before opening a real shop. More on ePasal.

My shop's products appeared on pasal.biz without me signing up — why?

We index Nepali shops the same way Google does: by crawling public websites, sitemaps, and structured product data (schema.org/Product, WooCommerce Store API, Shopify, and a few others). If your products are public on the open web, they're discoverable. We always link back to your site for the actual purchase. We don't sell, hold inventory, or process payments.

How do I claim the auto-listed page for my shop?

Install the app, sign in, search for your shop, and tap "This is my shop" on the profile. After phone verification we'll merge the auto-listed page into your owned profile, and you take over pricing, stock, and listing edits.

How do I opt out of being crawled?

Two ways, both standard. Site-wide: block PasalBot in your robots.txt. Per-page: add <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> (skips the page) or noarchive / nosnippet (keeps title, price, and link but strips the description). PasalBot honours these the same way Googlebot does.

Can I import my existing WooCommerce, Shopify, or CSV catalog?

Yes. We support 7 ingestion adapters: CSV upload, WooCommerce Store API (native, no plugin), Shopify, Google Merchant Center, WordPress wp/v2/product, generic JSON feeds, and sitemap + schema.org/Product. Most shops are live in under 10 minutes. Full guide.

How pasal.biz works

Where is pasal.biz available?

pasal.biz is built for Nepal. Anyone in Nepal can install and browse. Whether a pasal can deliver to your address depends on the individual shopkeeper's service area — pickup is always an option for anyone within reach of the shop.

How does making an offer work?

On supported items, you can propose your own price. The shopkeeper sees the offer instantly and can accept, reject, or send a counter-price. If they accept, the offer converts into an order — the consumption is atomic in the same transaction, so the same offer can't be applied twice.

Do I need a credit card?

No. pasal.biz does not store payment methods or take payments inside the app. You pay the shopkeeper directly, in whatever way you both prefer — cash on delivery, eSewa, Khalti, bank transfer, or in-person at the shop.

Can I cancel an order?

Customers can cancel orders that are still PENDING. Once a shopkeeper accepts (ACCEPTED state), the cancellation has to go through them — message them inside the app and they can cancel from their side.

What languages does pasal.biz support?

English and Nepali (नेपाली). Switch in the app, or click the नेपाली / English button at the top of any page on this site.

What's the difference between pasal.biz (website) and the Pasal app?

The website is a public search engine for Nepali products — anyone can browse, no install. The app is for full buyer and seller workflows: search history, follow shops, place orders, make offers, accept orders, message customers, manage stock. Most casual visitors stay on the site; people who shop or sell regularly install the app.

What does /buy/[city]/[category] mean?

Those are SEO landing pages — a permanent URL for every city × category combination we have shops in (e.g. /buy/kathmandu/grocery). They list the real pasals in that bucket, drawn live from the published shops in our index. Useful for sharing, bookmarking, and search engines.

Why doesn't pasal.biz let me browse the full catalog?

The website is a preview to help you discover pasals from links shared on social media or messaging. Full browsing — search, full product lists, ordering, offers — happens in the app, where we can authenticate users, prevent spam, and give you a faster experience.

What information does pasal.biz store about me?

Account profile, orders you've placed, and items you've followed/favorited. We don't store payment cards. See our full privacy policy.

Pricing & business model

Is pasal.biz really free?

Yes. pasal.biz does not charge commission, transaction fees, or subscriptions — from customers or shopkeepers. We mean that. Read the full pricing page.

If it's free, how does pasal.biz make money?

Today we don't, on the core marketplace. The company (Seti Projects) is funding the early years to grow the index. The plan for sustainability is optional services — paid placement (Boost), premium delivery integrations, and similar add-ons — that shopkeepers opt into and that never block the free core. No commission, no transaction cut, ever.

What is Boost?

Boost is paid placement — a shop can buy higher visibility in search results and category pages for a set period. Boosted listings are clearly labelled. It's strictly opt-in for shops; the free baseline ranking is unaffected for everyone else.
